Itinerary

Transfer from Barcelona Airport to centrally located hotel in Palamós, the heart of the Costa Brava. Early arrivals can take the chance to discover the old city, fish auction and seafood restaurants.

After breakfast, meet up with your guide and fellow travellers for a group briefing on the walks of the week. Transfer by private van to Sant Feliu de Guíxols, where we begin to walk on the coastal path from the top of “Puig de les Forques” (a little ‘mountain’ just 73m high!) to the beach of St. Pol, ambling through pine trees and enjoying the dazzling views. St. Pol beach, is resplendent with fantastic examples of Modernist residential houses of XIX century. Perhaps we can dip our feet in Sa Conca Beach before we follow to Platja D’Aro for a deserved lunch at a local restaurant.
Transfer to our Hotel in Palamós.
Free afternoon for siesta or exploration of the town. Suggestions for dinner will allways be available.

Short drive to Platja D’aro. Today the trail moves right on the coast. Coming across some view-points ideal for photo-stops, we will discover hidden coves and sandy beaches all along. Be ready to walk on a mix terrain along a rugged coastal path with some steep but short descents and ascents, including flight of steps and walking on sand. A bit challenging today, but trully rewarding since we will be at all times accompanied by amazing views of the Mediterranean.
The last sections of the walk continues on a gentle granite path along the sea-front promenade to Palamós. Upon arrival, lunch will be in a family run Restaurant in Palamós.

In the morning, we will drive to Figueres, Dali’s home town, for a walking tour and visit of his Museum led by an expert local guide. Dali’s Theater-Museum was inaugurated in 1974, it rises on the remains of the former municipal Theater of Figueres and is considered to be the last great work of the Surreal artist. Everything on it was conceived and designed, to offer visitors a real experience of his unique and captivating world. Visiting this museum is a unique opportunity to experience and enjoy the work and thought of a genius.
Lunch will be a menu del dia at a local restaurant by las Ramblas of Figueres. Before returning to Palamós, enjoy some free time for shopping and relaxing in Figueres.

From Palamós we will join the historical coastal trail recently restored, with a succession of flights of steps to Cala s’Alguer, this is a picture perfect scene with fishermen huts dating from the XVI century. Soon after we have the first glimpse of Platja de Castell, a very famous spot amongst the locals as they saved it from being urbanized, after a popular referendum in 1994. Therefore today, it remains as one of the best well preserved natural areas in western Mediterranean.
Furthermore, Platja del Castell also boasts the Iberian archeological site dating from the IV century BC.
At the end of our walk, we will have Lunch at a local restaurant.

Today we switch the coastal trail and fishermens huts for inland mediaval villages. From Palamós we will take our private van to Begur, where will discover the beautifull colonial town and its castle. From this point, the cool shade of the dense pine forest will keep us protected from the sun. Rural trails will take us through beautifully cultivated farmlands to the village of Pals, one the most important historic-artistic sites in Catalunya. A great example of the cultural heritage and nature of “el Baix Empordà”, at the heart of the Costa Brava. We’ll take our time exploring the narrow, cobbled streets of this walled enclosure, a village which will transfer us directly to the middle-ages.
For lunch in Pals we will have the local speciality, rice.
After Lunch sit back and take in more of this gorgeous scenery on our drive back to Barcelona.

Take the opportunity to enjoy the highlights of Barcelona, visit the Cathedral, Picasso Museum, La Sagrada Familia or Casa Mila. Enjoy the Old city and its shops and Cafes and check out the local market of La Boqueria.
